LCEF Congregational Loans

by on August 6, 2012

Church is part of my tradition. I feel like something is missing when I don’t attend a weekly worship service, which is not very often. A small part of that is Lutheran guilt, I will admit. But mostly it is because I treasure worshiping together with fellow believers!

Church as a place has changed for me over the years. As I grew up, church was a place where I knew everybody and even had a key to the building so I could let myself in and work on projects for the church. Today, I no longer have a key and I certainly don’t know the majority of the folks who attend the three worship services offered. Church today is a place for me to connect with a small group of believers (though we are members of a large congregation) that studies the Word, socializes, and seeks to serve the community together.

Investments with LCEF have helped all of my home congregations to finance traditional worship space and non-traditional worship space. No setting has been more or less meaningful to me—they all provided the space where a community of fellow believers can gather around the Word and Sacrament, and be equipped for outreach and service. I have experienced first-hand the impact a Lutheran partner like LCEF can have in helping a ministry be where people need it to be so that they may hear the Word of God.

So, has the setting of your church changed? What sorts of worship spaces have you seen financed with LCEF dollars?
